JOB OPPORTUNITIES

 

 

The Kenya High School invites applications for the following vacant posts to be recruited by the School’s Board of Management;

1. STORES KEEPER / PROCUREMENT CLERK (1 POST)


Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be in charge of the stores and assist in other duties related to procurement which include but not limited to;

  • Ensuring security and safe custody of stores
  • Preparation and submission of monthly procurement reports
  • Facilitating and or sourcing of quality goods in liaison with user departments
  • Adhering to stores re-order levels to ensure continuity of supplies
  • Record and maintain accurate pricing data for all commodities on the unit stock sheets
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure prompt and accurate deliveries
  • Register and maintain proper stores ledgers, files of requisitions, quotations, purchase orders, and other relevant documents related to stores and procurement, supplies and disposal
  • Ensure compliance with relevant government policies on procurement, supplies management and disposal
  • Ensure that all relevant documents relating to procurement are duly approved by the relevant authorities and are submitted to the finance department for timely payment to suppliers
  • Assist in preparation of annual procurement plan
  • Assist in preparation and presentation of minutes during procurement meeting proceedings, among other duties

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Must be between 35-45 years of age.
  • Must possess Diploma in Purchasing and Supplies Management or any other relevant qualification from a recognized institution and be proficient in computers
  • Must have 3 years of relevant experience
  • Be a person of high moral and integrity

 

2. NURSE (1 POST)

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be a resident nurse on duty in a busy shift system and will be expected to;

  • Deliver a professional and high standard nursing care to the students and the school community
  • Maintain information relating to all medical cases, counseling, perform routine clinical duties and ensure proper handover of patients between shifts
  • Administering prescribed treatment to patients as necessary
  • Transfer of complicated cases to school doctor or external hospital and follow up and liaising with the management on any referral cases
  • Ensuring proper documentation by maintaining proper drugs ledgers and patients records
  • Be of high integrity by adhering to the nurses codes of ethics and ensuring patients confidentiality, among other duties

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Must be between 40 - 55 years of age and preferably retired nurses
  • Must have a Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing or Equivalent from a reputable institution
  • At least 5 years working experience preferably in a large hospital establishment
  • Those who are computer literate will have an added advantage

3. LIBRARIAN (1 POST)

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be in charge of the School Library and Archive and is expected to;

  • Manage the planning and administrative functions of the library
  • Do a reconciliation of all library records and ensure effectiveness in the reporting and service delivery to staff and students.
  • Provide effective access to library collections and resources
  • Maintain the organization of library material
  • Provide library services in response to the information needs of library users
  • Ability to interpret subject content and a thorough understanding of the scope, author, arrangement, and format of reference
  • Leading and/or coordinating digital preservation efforts for the libraries that will ensure enduring access to the full content of digital resources over time.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Must be between 30-45 years of age.
  • Must have a Diploma in Library Studies or Information Science
  • Proficiency in Computer applications is a must
  • At least 3 years working experience preferably in library and archival applications in a large institution

4. ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT (1 POST)


Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be in charge of front office operations and P.A. to Chief Principal

  • Reading, monitoring and responding to the principal's email and other correspondence
  • Attending to and liaising with Principal’s visitors, staff, clients etc answering calls and handling their queries on Principal’s behalf
  • Checking & Commissioning work from administrative departments on the Principal's behalf
  • Managing the Principal's diary
  • Organizing local and abroad travel and preparing complex travel itineraries for the Principal
  • Booking meetings, preparing agenda, attend meetings and taking minutes
  • Planning, organizing, budgeting and managing scheduled events
  • Attending events as the Principal's representative in the absence of the Principal
  • Conducting researches on a given area including the net, and writing reports and executive summaries
  • Preparing presentations and other reports for meetings
  • Managing and reviewing filing and office systems
  • Maintaining Alumni database and updating websites
  • Sourcing and ordering stationery and office equipment
  • Managing other office Assistants
  • Implementing and maintaining procedures/administrative system

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Diploma / Bachelors Degree in Business Administration
  • Computer literacy in all MS office packages
  • Secretarial Skills
  • Administrative experience
  • Must be between 30-45 years of age.
  • At least 3 years working experience in a busy office preferably a large institution

5. SECURITY SUPERVISOR (1 POST)

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be in charge of overseeing general security in the school in liaison with the contracted security service company

 

  • Undertake general security operational responsibilities.
  • Respond to security-related incidents affecting the school and Conduct preliminary investigation on the incidents/accidents and make verbal/written reports. Assist investigators to get all necessary evidence/details required for investigation
  • Supervise and professionally coordinate outsourced guard shift members, where required.
  • Make reports on security incidents
  • Assist in efforts to ensure all residences are surveyed for appropriate security measures
  • Assist in assessment of the school’s facilities and residential security measures.
  • Ensure that interior and exterior guard posts are properly manned at all times.
  • Carry out special duties, e.g. in connection with school functions, hire of facilities among other duties

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Must be between 40-55 years of age.
  • Must have a minimum of O-Level education and Certificate of good conduct
  • Priority will be given to those with N.Y.S. training or any disciplined forces
  • Demonstrate good vigilance skill, honesty, integrity and good analytical skills.

6. HOUSE MISTRESS / MATRON (4 POSTS)

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate is expected to;

  • Reside within the institute and will be a house mother and counselor to students
  • Supervise work activities of cleaning personnel to ensure clean, orderly & attractive boarding facility and its environs
  • To ensure that there is a clean and pleasant environment in the House throughout which involves line managing and directing cleaners both inside and outside the hostel
  • Be a point of contact with parents and will be required to be able to liaise with parents and take messages for the Administration
  • Be a major source of awareness of poor students behaviour and be ready to alert the Administration regarding areas of concern
  • During the academic year, there are a number of House social events, which the Matron may be required to organize and attend.
  • Monitor the students’ daily routines (including punctuality, meal attendance, diet etc), and work with the Senior Matron and Boarding Mistress to help pupils meet expected school standards.
  • Ensure pupils are correctly turned out and smart when leaving the House
  • Assess illness and injuries and to refer to the Nurse all medical matters.
  • Report and follow up unsatisfactory levels of repair either inside or outside the House
  • To be responsible for the care of hostel’s facilities, equipment and laundry among other duties

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Mature individual between 40 – 55 years preferably with a teaching or nursing background
  • Those with house keeping and / or counseling certificate will have an added advantage


7. LAUNDRY ATTENDANT (1 POST)

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate is expected to;

  • Count & collect the used and dirty linens from the hostels and other places within the school
  • Wash, dry, iron and fold the collected linens.
  • Deliver the clean laundry collected from different hostels and departments to the respective places on time
  • Ensure proper and effective use of laundry detergent and washing materials provided
  • Ensuring proper use and maintenance of laundry equipment and tools provided

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Must be between 30 - 45 years of age
  • Certificate in Housekeeping & Laundry
  • At least 2 years working experience

8. COOK (1 POST)

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate is expected to;

· Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of clean, safe, food-handling practices.

· Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to menu or personal judgment, using various kitchen utensils and equipment

· Select wash and soak cereals, wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption.

· Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing them with utensils.

· Portion, arrange, and garnish food, and serve food to students or staff.

· Substitute for or assist other kitchen staff during emergencies or rush periods.

  • Consult with supervisory staff to plan menus, taking into consideration factors such as costs and special event needs.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Must be a male between 30 - 45 years of age
  • Certificate in F & B
  • At least 2 years working experience in a large institution

9. FARM MANAGER (1 POST)


Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be in charge of both dairy and crop sections and is expected to;

DAIRY SECTION

  • Prepare periodical farm and livestock plans and forecasts and liaise with management on implementation
  • Control farm expenditure within the budget and making recommendations
  • Prepare quarterly farm production / sales reports
  • Direct and co-ordinate farm workers activities

Keep and maintain all farm and livestock records including breeding, calving, vet, spraying etc

  • Making arrangements for storage of farm and livestock produce and marketing of the same
  • Regularly liaise and consult with field extension officers and veterinarians for better management and improvement of farm and livestock departments
  • Recommend to the management improvements, changes, disposals, capital plans and use of farm facilities, among other duties
  • Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment

 

CROP SECTION

  • Timely Schedule for all farm works by seasons which include; land preparation, sourcing of seeds, planting, spraying, weeding, harvesting and sale of farm produce
  • Identify plants, pests, and weeds to determine the selection and application of pesticides and fertilizers.
  • Repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures.
  • Direct and monitor the work of farm employees, casual and seasonal help during planting and harvesting, among other duties

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Must be between 35 - 50 years of age
  • Attained a diploma in Animal, horticulture, dairy or farm management from a reputable institution
  • Those with A.I. certificates will have an added advantage
  • At least 2 years working experience in a mixed large farm
